Agent of transformation; Becoming change agents
The first law of thermodynamics is; energy can neither be created nor destroyed; energy can only be transferred or changed (transformed) from one form to another form of energy, this is because the creator our God has created all that needs to be created. For example, when a light bulb is turned on, one can say; energy is produced; however, electrical energy is what is being converted to light. Since God has created all, man is charged with the responsibility of dressing and keeping
‘’and the lord God took the man, and put him into the Garden of Eden to dress it and keep.
Genesis 2; 15 kjv
The nature of the world since the fall of man has necessitated an addition to man’s responsibilities which is transformation. Evil is being legalised, moral teachings are considered to be archaic, media houses value airing immoral contents to contents with good moral lessons, the days are evil, redeeming them is of essence. In actuality, everyone is engaged in transforming the world; however the transformation isn’t homogeneous as they are not fuelled by the same spirit. There are positive and negative Agents of transformation depending on the spirit behind it. Which are you?
Jezebel is described in the book of 1 kings 16:31 as a queen who was the daughter of Ithobal and wife of king Ahab of Israel. As a queen, this evil agent of transformation incited her husband and the people of God to worship idols; Baal and Asherah, she went as far as threatening and slaying Prophets of God. One of the Agents of positive transformation in the bible is King Josiah. At age 8, he succeeded his father an evil king who made the people of God worship idols. Josiah in his transformation agenda restored the worship of Yahweh.
Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem thirty-one years. 2 he did what was right in the eyes of the lord and followed the ways of his father David, not turning aside to the right or to the left. 3 in the eighth (age 16) year of his reign, while he was still young, he began to seek the God of his father David. In his twelfth year (age 20) he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of high places, Asherah poles and idols. 4 under his direction the altars of the Baals were torn down; he cut to pieces the incense altars that were above them, and smashed the Asherah poles and the idols … 8 in the eighteenth year of Josiah’s reign, to purify the land and the temple, he sent Shaphan son of Azaliah and Maaseiah the ruler of the city, with Joah son of Joahaz, the recorder, to repair the temple of the lord his god. 2 chronicles 34.
From the two examples of Agents above, we can deduce that a positive agent of transformation is someone chosen by God and charged with a heavenly mandate to transform and restore God’s original plan, like our forerunner Jesus Christ. God puts these agents through several tests to prepare and enable them get several qualities for the task ahead.
Two Attributes of God’s agents of transformation
He is transformed. There is the popular saying that ‘’you can’t give what you don’t have. Hence, before one can embark on the journey of positive transformation, he first has to be transformed from his sinful life, turned from darkness to light by the power of Jesus. An agent has had his sins forgiven, he is a new creature, 2 cor 5:17 therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new. God’s agent of transformation has in him the power of Christ, with the same power, he goes about doing good.
He longs for change (transformation)
The long list of individuals in the Bible that effected positive change all had burning desires to see that God be given all the glory. Daniel wasn’t comfortable with idolatry and didn’t mind giving his body to be eaten by lions. Paul’s desire to reach the gentiles burned really deep; he travelled across continents preaching the gospel. Noah so much wanted the people to turn from their evil ways, he preached for 120 years despite how folly he looked building the ark. Jesus our forerunner left His heavenly place to be born into a humble home, to further be humiliated by His creations.
In other words, it can be said that such people are fuelled by love for God. Out of love; God created the world, out of love; His son died for our sins, out of love, men and women volunteer daily to positively transform the world to God’s glory.
It should be noted that transformation cuts across every sphere of life. In whichever field you find yourself, be God’s agent of transformation, be it in politics, education, commerce, society, be it anything;
BE GOD’S AGENT OF TRANSFORMATION
